چکیده

Purpose: To evaluate the protective effect, effective time window, and mechanism of protection sevoflurane post-conditioning late on heart muscle ischemiareperfusion (I/R) lesion in isolated rat heart. Methods: Langendorff perfusion model was established Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. After 15 min stabilization, rats were assigned to 10 groups, based treatments given: control group (TTC), I/R group, post-processing (SpostC), 0.5 min-, 1 5 20 30 min- delayed (S0.5, S1, S3, S5, S10, S20). The levels mitochondrial membrane permeability, area myocardial infarction, apoptosis, p-GSK3 beta level determined. Results: Myocardial infarction areas Spost, S0.5, S10 S20 groups significantly than (p < 0.05), while expression p-Akt higher S20, S30 0.05). GSK-3 phosphorylation Expression p-GSK-3β decreased, relative that Spost 0.05).Conclusion: Sevoflurane mitigates lesions hearts. effect against ischemia-reperfusion injury is related Akt GSK-3β. Thus, this treatment approach may be useful management cardiac injury.

The effect of asafoetida essential oil on myocardial ischemic-reperfusion injury in isolated rat hearts

Objective: Previous studies reported that asafetida from Ferula assa-foetida Linn. species and its essential oil (AEO) have antioxidant effects. In the present study, the effect of AEO was evaluated on ischemic-reperfusion injury in isolated rat hearts. Materials and Methods: Forty-eight male Wistar rats were divided into 6 groups: 1) control group, 2) vehicle group, 3-5) AEO groups and, 6) car...

Sevoflurane Postconditioning Protects Rat Hearts against Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury via the Activation of PI3K/AKT/mTOR Signaling

Phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT) pathway plays a key role in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury. Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), a downstream target of PI3K/AKT signaling, is necessary and sufficient to protect the heart from I/R injury. Inhaled anesthetic sevoflurane is widely used in cardiac surgeries because its induction and recovery are faster and...

Protective effect of pharmacologic postconditioning with Natural Honey against left ventricular ischemia/reperfusion-induced arrhythmias in isolated heart of rat

Introduction: This study was aimed to investigate the effects of postconditioning by natural honey on cardiac arrhythmias in the ischemic isolated rat heart. Methods: Male Wistar rats were divided into four groups then anesthetized by sodium pentobarbital. The animal hearts were removed and quickly mounted on a Langendorff apparatus and perfused under constant pressure by a modified Krebs-H...

Effects of dietary phytoestrogen on global myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in isolated female rat hearts.

We investigated the effects of phytoestrogen on global myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in five groups of female rats. A high-phytoestrogen group (HPE) was ovariectomized (Ovx) and fed a diet containing soybean protein and a high-isoflavone soy extract. Another Ovx group of rats was fed the same diet as the HPE group but treated with the estrogen receptor blocker ICI-182,780 (HPE + ICI). ...

Effects of Glucose Concentration on Propofol Cardioprotection against Myocardial Ischemia Reperfusion Injury in Isolated Rat Hearts

The anesthetic propofol confers cardioprotection against myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) by reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS). However, its cardioprotection on patients is inconsistent. Similarly, the beneficial effect of tight glycemic control during cardiac surgery in patients has recently been questioned. We postulated that low glucose (LG) may promote ROS formation through...
